After two successful mobilizations in 2014 and 2015, IOC will be once again opening the doors of UNESCO to its Member States and multiple stakeholders to celebrate World Oceans Day around the theme “Healthy Ocean, Healthy Planet”.
The WOD 2016 programme will be open to the public. All events will take place on 8 June 2016, at UNESCO Headquarters, 7 Place de Fontenoy, 75007 Paris. Registration is mandatory for the general public and is open until Monday, 6 June 2016. The registration form and more information can be found on the provisional programme (attached) as well as on the dedicated IOC website (http://www.unesco.org/new/en/oceans-day).
The main programme of activities will cover a half-day, between 14h30 and 18h, and will include the traditional IOC Roger Revelle Memorial Lecture, to be delivered by Professor Kenneth Caldeira (Carnegie Department of Global Ecology) on the topic of ocean acidification, as well as a Thematic Roundtable focusing on “Mobilizing society and stakeholders for effective ocean science […]
